The journey
A journey for travellers who want a serious wildlife day on the way north. Wilpattu — the older and quieter of Sri Lanka's two great leopard parks — sits roughly halfway between Colombo and Jaffna, and a single night at the park edge is enough for a long dawn drive on the way through. The remainder of the trip slows back into the rhythm of the villa, and threads naturally with the wildlife journey described under our Things to Do section.

Wilpattu hinterland
North to the Wilpattu edge
Met on arrival at Bandaranaike International and driven north — about four hours through the coconut belt and into the Wilpattu hinterland. A small park-edge lodge, arranged on your behalf, is the base for the night. A late lunch, an early dinner and an early bed; tomorrow begins before light.
