Ferry & weather

Ferry timings on the Jaffna islands are weather- and schedule-dependent. We hold the day as request-to-book until Abi can confirm the latest sailing window with the operator. In the rare case of cancellation, we’ll switch the route to a coastal alternative that day.

What to wear & temple etiquette

Light, breathable layers; shoulders and knees covered for temples. Slip-on shoes (you’ll remove them at every kovil). A hat, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle. Some inner sanctums restrict entry to Hindu visitors — your driver will quietly advise on the day.

Delft-specific advisory

Delft is a long, exposed day with limited shade and rough island roads. We don’t recommend it for guests with mobility limitations, pregnancy, severe heat sensitivity, or tight onward travel. If any of those apply, the Nainativu ferry day reads gentler.
