Private Temple Circuit

A half-day private guided visit covering the three most significant Hindu sacred sites in the Jaffna area: Nallur Kandaswamy Temple in town, the water temple at Nagadeepa on Nainativu island (reached by a short boat crossing from Kurikadduwan), and the ancient stupa and Buddhist ruins at Kandarodai.

The guide is a local scholar with deep knowledge of the ritual calendar, the architectural history of each site, and the day-to-day religious practices of the Jaffna Tamil community. The tour is timed to arrive at Nallur for the 10 a.m. pooja before moving to the harbour for the Nainativu crossing.

Nagadeepa temple sits on a small island and is one of the few sites in Sri Lanka that is simultaneously sacred to both Hinduism and Buddhism. The Kandarodai stupa field — a cluster of small white domes in a walled enclosure north of Chunnakam — is a quieter stop that most itineraries skip, but which gives context to the Buddhist presence in the North before the Jaffna Kingdom period.
